Biography

Location: Boston, MA While riding mopeds through busy Bali intersections, one half of this duo was intrigued by an Indonesian word that appeared on almost every street corner – Warung. Meaning ‘small familyrun business’ it quickly became apparent how intrinsic these Warung were to the culture: self made, the lifeline of the families, and a legacy to carry forth. The concept of Warung couldn’t have been a better inspiration for the sound and project for Aaron Hopkins & Dillon Ames. Both Aaron & Dillon decided to forego their solo projects and together cultivate something rich, from the ground up, with the intention of starting an organic music identity. Enter the duo, Warung. Post-pandemic has been a breakthrough period for Warung. After their debut ‘Sinuous’ EP on world-renowned record label Anjunadeep and collaboration with label mate Enamour ‘Forget Your Name’ on When We Dip’s XYZ label, they went on to release their sophomore EP on Anjunadeep featuring ‘Return to a Place Called Heaven,’ all garnering support from top melodic DJs, and with key placements on both Spotify & Apple Music’s editorial playlists. Warung continues to gain support from larger acts including Joris Voorn, Tale of Us, and Eelke Kliejn off the back of their most recent Armada release. Their 2023 release schedule is set to continue momentum on both club and radio play.
